Denequal Brown Smith, DNP, MSN, BSN, RN, owner of Graceful Conulting LLC, began her nursing career on a heart failure telemetry medical-surgical unit at Cone Health where she quickly advanced into various leadership roles on her unit, serving as an academy coach for new nurse graduates, co-chair of a research team to prevent Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTIs), geriatric resource nurse, charge nurse and member of shared governance. She was awarded the I-Care Award on her unit for providing outstanding care to her patients in 2014. 

 

Denequal has served in various nursing roles from staff nurse to Chief Compliance & Nursing Officer and her nursing career has been dedicated to leading health care organizations in PCMH and FTCA recognition, regulatory site visits, quality awards, and creating high quality, reliable systems of care with a focus on Quality Improvement (QI), Compliance, and Risk Management. Denequal has spent the most recent years of her nursing career managing two federally qualified health (FQHC) clinical sites serving over 5,000 patients a year in compliance and clinical workflow management.  ​After years of experience in the hospital, ambulatory and community health settings, Denequal has decided to expand a step further in providing consulting services to help healthcare organizations develop effective and efficient operational and clinical rhythms to optimize quality patient care.

 

Denequal received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Queens University of Charlotte in 2011 and her Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) from Medical University of South Carolina.
